FSU football finally has some clarity on its QB depth situation. The NCAA unbelievably has reached a decision on Jordan Travis.

FSU football quarterback Jordan Travis transferred to the Noles from Louisville following the 2018 season.

He saw time as a true freshman for Bobby Petrino, playing in three games and throwing for 71 yards and a touchdown. Travis ran for 40 yards on eight carries.

Travis enrolled at FSU this spring and worked out with the team before applying for a waiver with the NCAA to be eligible to play immediately.

There was a hostile environment/verbal abuse with the Louisville staff that prompted Travis to seek transfer. The Noles applied for the waiver in April and finally got the long-awaited decision Monday:

Reaction

As you can see folk are happy the depth chart at FSU looks a bit better now.

Thoughts

I must say I’m surprised this happened with Travis transferring within the same conference AND same conference division.

It’s great news as he deserved the opportunity to be eligible this season with other players getting waivers because there was too much competition at their position. As they say, the ball doesn’t lie as this particular QB was NOT named the starter after transferring to Miami. Not to mention the Petrino staff at Louisville is no longer there.

There have been several players that applied and were approved for their transfer while Travis waited in the wings.

This is huge for depth purposes. The Noles were going into the season with only two scholarship quarterbacks in James Blackman and Wisconsin graduate transfer Alex Hornibrook.

The addition of Jordan Travis being eligible gives the Noles some added insurance in the event the injury bug decides to strike. Travis has been practicing with the team all spring, summer and fall and looked surprisingly good in the spring game.
