FSU football is expecting to have a much improved offense in 2019. The reason those expectations have increased is Kendal Briles.

FSU football offensive coordinator Kendal Briles has only spoken with the media a couple of times since being hired a few months back.

However, after hearing him speak Sunday, it’s clear why all the players seem to believe in him already.

It certainly doesn’t hurt his track record speaks for itself, but listening to him leads me to believe he’s confident in his offense.

More importantly, he seems confident in how to install his offense with new players. His stop at FSU is the third time he’s done it and he’s been very successful at each stop.

That has FSU football fans hopeful for the offense in 2019 after fielding one of the worst offenses in college football last season.

His interview can be viewed in the video player below:

Thoughts

One of the biggest takeaways from this interview is how precise Kendal Briles is with his answers. It’s clear he has a set of checks and balances when it comes to installing the offense since he’s done it before.

He seemed to be honest about where they were in terms of how much the players knew and the speed at which they are able to go.

Briles said, “It’s a work in progress” when asked about where the offense was after two days (without pads mind you). Of course the players are not going to have everything down pat, but they seem to have a great attitude about putting in the work to learn it all.

When asked about what he’s looking for from his quarterbacks Briles said, “production” with a stone cold killer look.

I’ve already written multiple pieces on it, but Briles also talked about the importance of hiring offensive line coach Randy Clements.

He goes into detail about why it was important, and I believe the synergy between those two is going to be night and day compared to who FSU had in those roles last season.

It’s going to be interesting to see how they look in the first game and then how they progress through the season.
