FSU football recruiting has stayed the course recruiting wise in 2020. Now they are in a position of power.
FSU football coaches have had a daunting task in recruiting over the past 10 months or so. The Noles looked like a program in disarray after losing to Florida in the final game of the season last November.
The 2019 recruiting class that was formerly No. 1 in the nation limped to the finish line and lost one of its top recruits at the very end.
A lot of lessons were learned and the staff refocused their efforts mostly to the state of Florida and Georgia.
After all, some of the best high school football in the nation takes place in their backyard and they wanted to get back to taking advantage of it.
The 2020 class consists of 16 players from Florida, two from Georgia and one from Louisiana. They have almost every need met in the class, and now the Noles are in a power position prior to the season starting.
They have leverage with most of their remaining targets because there’s only a certain number of spots left in this class.
The good news? FSU has a number of options at different positions to choose from.
A prime example is four-star running back Lawrance Toafili coming to visit FSU Tuesday after deciding beforehand he would not be visiting Saturday Night Live this past weekend.
It’s as simple as supply and demand. The limited number of positions makes folk have to make decisions.
It’s a position that was unfamiliar to the Noles last recruiting cycle when they were throwing out late offers to players who were options three and four on their board.
It’s a position of power that could see the Noles land six or seven more blue chip players before this recruiting cycle is over.
It’s a great position to be in coming off the worst season in four decades and a lot of credit should be given to Recruiting Coordinator David Kelly.
All they have to do is deliver on the field in 2019 and the Noles should be back on track to challenge for conference/national supremacy in two or three seasons.
