Former FSU star Derwin James showed he has the skills in front of the television camera at the same level he does on the field in Los Angeles.

After just one season in the NFL after an All-American career for FSU, former Seminoles star Derwin James has proven to already be one of the top sports stars in the entire city of Los Angeles as he prepares for his second training camp with his team, the Chargers, that started this past week.

Why wouldn’t James be Mr. Popularity in the City of Angels? After all, he did finish his rookie season with the Chargers by having three interceptions to go along with three and a half sacks as he was named a member of the AFC Pro Bowl team while also being named an All-Pro on the first team.

But, does the man who wore No. 3 so well for FSU and has made No. 33 look good in baby blue for the Chargers already have a second career lined up – in weather forecasting?

Well, judging from this past week he may just be heading that way. As the team got back together in Los Angeles and prepared to check in for camp, James made his way around the area and took shots with the NBA’s Lakers before making a stop at KABC-TV, the preseason broadcaster of games for the team.

There, he got a chance to go on air with the station’s chief meteorologist – and fellow FSU alum, Dallas Raines – and spent the next three minutes polishing his skills live on air and showing the alma mater plenty of love.

Alright, so he’s not quite ready for the Weather Channel just yet but there is no doubt that James showed his skills on air – and made those in the meteorology program at FSU very proud by reminding everyone that he is always proud to be a Seminole.

Fans of James who can’t get out to Los Angeles for a game this season will get two chances to see the Chargers in the Sunshine State – on September 29th when they travel to face the Miami Dolphins and on December 8th when they travel to face the Jacksonville Jaguars.
