FSU Basketball knows they will face at least two more teams that made it to the NCAA tournament last season when the 2019-20 season gets underway.

It is already known that the FSU Basketball team is going to face quite a difficult schedule during the upcoming season if they want to make it back to the NCAA tournament – with an ACC slate that includes teams like defending champs Virginia along with Duke, North Carolina and the yearly battle with in-state rival Florida.

So, why not add two more tournament teams to the non-conference slate for the Seminoles! Well, that’s exactly what took place this week as the team announced two more games against teams that made it into the madness of March earlier this year.

FSU Basketball announced the schedule of games for the Emerald Coast Classic that is scheduled to take place in November with games both on campus and in the city of Niceville. Inside the Tucker Center, head coach Leonard Hamilton’s team will take on Chattanooga on Nov. 20th and Chicago State just five days later.

However, those aren’t the games that – with all due respect to both teams – the Seminoles have to worry about. Those two games that are going to make the garnet and gold sweat more come on November 29th when the Noles head west for a game against the Tennessee Volunteers, who went to the Sweet 16 round last tournament.

Win or lose, FSU basketball knows that they are going to face another tournament team in the final game of the classic – against either Purdue, who beat the Vols to advance to the Elite Eight before losing to eventual champs Virginia, or a VCU team that made it into the field before losing to UCF in the first round.

I mean, I am all about the “play anyone at anytime” mentality that the Seminoles seem to be all about with this schedule but there has to be a line to it all.

It’s one thing when you’re talking about conference mandated games against teams like the Blue Devils or Tar Heels or Cavaliers…it’s another thing when you are talking about scheduling games on your own against teams like the Vols, Boilermakers or Rams that you really don’t need to be doing.

Let us all hope that for the rest of the schedule, the FSU basketball team takes it slightly easier when it comes to their foes.
