FSU Baseball surprised all the critics with a miraculous run to the College World Series this season, but repeating the feat could be easier said than done.

It was not all that long ago that the FSU baseball team shocked the critics and the wold of college baseball when a team that was one of the final four selected for the annual NCAA Tournament arrived as one of the eight teams in Omaha for the annual event known as the College World Series in the final season for longtime coach Mike Martin.

While the Seminoles weren’t able to send Martin out as a champion – as the Seminoles have been to the CWS a total of 24 times and have never won it – the way last season went seemed to have lit a fire under the Noles as they prepare for the first season under their new head coach, Mike Martin Jr.

As it turns out, things might be easier said than done for the man the call “Meat” if he has any plans on leading the FSU baseball team back to their second home of Omaha – as it could be a long road for the Seminoles in getting back to the elite eight of college baseball.

The biggest thing of late would be the decision by arguably the three best players on last year’s team – starting pitcher Drew Parrish, third baseman Drew Mendoza and outfielder / closer J.C. Flowers – to all head to the pro game after being drafted in the earlier rounds last month by Major League Baseball teams.

Now, am I saying that the FSU baseball team can’t make it to Omaha this upcoming season at all? Of course not – anything is possible for the garnet and gold after what took place following a near collapse during this past season.

However, even Martin Jr. has made it clear that things are going to be tough next season with a younger team – and losing those three in the past days isn’t going to help at all.
