FSU football will feature one of its most talented receiving units in the last decade in 2019. Tamorrion Terry will have all eyes on him.

FSU football head coach Willie Taggart first noticed Tamorrion Terry while the Noles were practicing for their 2017 bowl game against Southern Mississippi.

The first thing he wanted to know was why wasn’t he playing instead of redshirting as a true freshman.

Fast forward into the 2018 season and Terry was the most explosive player on offense by a wide margin. The biggest question I was asking during the season was why wasn’t he getting more passes thrown his way?

Terry had an excellent redshirt freshman season despite having to deal with mediocre QB play and an offensive line that often couldn’t block long enough to allow the QB to find him.

He played well enough for the SportingNews to list him as an honorable mention among their top 25 wide receivers in the nation going into 2019.

Terry was fourth in the nation among power five wide receivers averaging 21.26 yards per reception. Here’s a stat for you though:

Thoughts

That’s an incredible stat. Terry did most of his damage on first down likely off playaction passes. He had 13 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns on first down.

It’s no secret Kendal Briles likes to attack vertically off placation so Terry should be a huge deep threat again in 2019.

It’s likely teams will look to give him some extra attention, but that could open things up over the middle for players like D.J. Matthews and Keyshawn Helton.

One area I’d like to see Terry improve is in the red zone as only four of his receptions came in that area last year. The flip side to that is the Noles were only in the redzone 32 times all last season.

I expect both of those stats to change drastically in 2019 under Kendal Briles.
