FSU Football: Ranking the 5 toughest games of 2019 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Honorable Mention-Virginia
Man, I almost put Virginia on the list. It’s not a place known to have a tough environment to play in, but it will be the first true road game for the Noles in the young season.
Virginia will bring a legit defense that finished No. 31 according to S&P advanced metrics. They were not a great team offensively last season, especially when they got behind the chains and had to convert on long third downs.
However, they are a scrappy team and shut out South Carolina 28-0 in the Belk Bowl at the end of last season.
FSU was solid against the run last season with their biggest weakness in the secondary where they gave up 30 touchdown passes.
If the Noles are solid against the run again in 2019 they should stack up fairly well with the Cavaliers. The key will be winning the early downs and forcing them to pass.
If they can do that the Noles should take that game unless the offense is stagnant or they turn the ball over multiple times.
