The FSU Offense Will Be Better

The defense gave up 31.5 ppg on average last season but the bulk of that came in four games. It should come as no surprise the FSU offense had nine turnovers in those four games.

If you remove those four games the defense gave up an average of 22.75 ppg. The FSU defense gave up 378 points and 79 of those points were a result of the FSU offense turning the ball over and giving opposing offenses the ball ON FSU’s side of the field.

So 20 percent of the total points allowed happened because 22 of 26 turnovers by the FSU offense resulted in opposing offenses have to drive 49 yards or less to score.

Listen, the FSU offense is going to be better in 2019. Kendal Briles and Randy Clements have full control of the offense HAS to be better and has been everywhere they’ve coached together.

The FSU defense will benefit directly from that for a couple of reasons:

  • I don’t see FSU turnover the ball over 26 times again. They had an awful amount of bad fumble luck too.
  • FSU’s offense should be able to put together drives better and keep the defense off the field a bit more.

Yes, I’m aware FSU football will be running up tempo (they did last year too), but I just don’t see as many three and outs from the offense.

At the very least the offense will be good enough to flip the field most of the time which will make opposing offenses have to march 75-80 yards to score on average which is hard to do consistently.
