FSU Football: Top 5 Dark Horse Candidates for 2019
By Kelvin Hunt
Anthony Grant
The FSU backfield doesn’t have the same depth it had going into last season beat it does return former five-stars Cam Akers and Khalan Laborn.
However, Anthony Grant is a name to remember who could finally break through in his sophomore season.
Grant played in all 12 games last year with his biggest contributions coming on special teams as kick returner.
He only had five carries last season but he should have an increased role with the departure of Jacques Patrick and the uncertainty of Khalan Laborn returning from injury.
It’s possible FSU football could have three running backs on the field at once if Kendal Briles’ rushing attack.
I like some of the things I’ve seen from Grant as he’d shown a bit more elusiveness than you’d expect.
He had 10 rushes for 25 yards and one reception for eight yards in the spring game, but his team seemed to feature more of a passing attack compared to the other team.
I think Grant will definitely see more than five carries this season while continuing his work on special teams.
