FSU baseball had two incredible games against LSU to earn the sweep and reach the College World Series in Mike Martin’s final season.

What an improbable run FSU baseball has experienced in the past three weeks. The Noles went from losing their opening game of the ACC Tournament against Wake Forest to making the College World Series.

They did it with a win over FAU and powering past Georgia on the road. FSU baseball then went to LSU and swept them at home putting the Noles at six straight wins dating back to their 11-0 win over NC State.

A win that later proved to be a win they needed to even make postseason play as they were one of the last four teams in.

It seems destined for Mike Martin to go out on top. The team is playing at a level they haven’t seen for much of the season.

They made their usual blunders but somehow found ways to overcome them thus far. The question is will that continue?

Nevertheless, to make the College World Series in Martin’s final season is incredible and you could tell by the reaction of FSU fans Sunday night when the final out was made.

What an awesome moment to witness Sunday night as Mike Martin exuded the energy of someone half his age after the win. He’s such a classy guy who gets underappreciated because he’s done everything possible except bring a College World Series title to Tallahassee.

The fact of the matter is FSU baseball has gone to the College World Series 17 of his 40 seasons at FSU. That’s an incredible stat and probably will never be duplicated along with winning 40 games every year he was head coach.

The College World Series will be double elimination bracket play then the best of three championship series.
