FSU football coaching staff has done a great job of evaluating realistic targets for the 2020 recruiting class.
FSU football recruiting is in a pivotal year in year two of the Willie Taggart era. I say year two because it’ll be the second full recruiting cycle.
The coaching staff have done a great job of evaluating talent, offering and getting most of their targets on campus this spring for their junior days.
The groundwork paid off with a series of commitments from mid-April through early May. FSU football now has the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation with nine of 12 commits rated as blue chip (4-star or higher) players.
That’s a 75 percent blue chip ratio which is higher than both Florida (58 percent) and Miami (53 percent).

Florida State Seminoles Football
Four-star wide receiver Malachi Wideman is now the highest rated commit in the class as he moved from No.172 to No. 138 nationally.
Four-star defensive back Jalen Harrell moved from No. 223 to No. 191 nationally. However, four-star linebacker Stephen Dix Jr. saw the biggest jump going from No. 502 to No. 286 nationally.
Four-star QB Jeff Sims saw his ranking improve from No. 321 to No. 228 in the composite rankings. Also, four-star defensive back Isaiah Dunson saw his ranking improve slightly No. 318.
The recruiting class continues to be heavy in the Sunshine state with 11 commits and just one from the state of Georgia.
All of the Florida players are ranked among the top 97 in the state with the lone Georgia player checking in at No. 32 in that state.
The coaching staff needs to address positions at running back, offensive line, defensive line, wide receiver and find one more quarterback in the class.
They’re in a good spot for some excellent running backs and a couple of solid offensive linemen. I also think their in a good spot for a couple of wide receivers.
The biggest concern is defensive tackle and defensive end as they have just one defensive end committed in Josh Griffis. There are a couple of solid targets left the Noles have a chance with.
We’ll see how the class closes out and some of it will likely depend on how the Noles look on the field in 2019.
