Explosive plays allowed

The FSU defense was swiss cheese at different point last season. They were vulnerable in the passing game because the defensive line couldn’t get pressure with four rushers.

The only threat to get to the quarterback was Brian Burns but everyone else seemed to be invisible.

The FSU defense gave up 173 plays of 10 yards or longer in 2018 which was ranked No. 57 in the nation.

They gave up 60 plays of 20+ yards, 25 plays of 30+ yards and 17 plays of 40+ yards. I feel like the majority of these plays came in like five games

However, this is an area the FSU defense has to improve upon and it’s doable since they’ll be facing a number of teams breaking in new quarterbacks in 2018.

The loss of Brian Burns is going to be a factor and the hope of former five-star Joshua Kaindoh can finally play up to that ranking his junior season.

The linebacker and secondary groups looks to be better on paper as well.
