Penalties

FSU football was one of the most penalized teams in college football last season. The Noles committed 118 penalties in 2018, compared to just 68 penalties in 2017.

It’s no surprise that 72 of those 118 penalties came in the seven losses.

FSU had seven penalties against Virginia Tech, 11 against Syracuse, seven against Miami, 16 against Clemson AND NC State, five against Notre Dame and 10 against Florida. and 13 against Clemson.

The penalty yardage equated to an astounding 556 yards. That’s a 7.7 yard per penalty average. FSU football has always been a team that’s suffered a lot of penalties because of their aggressiveness.

However, 2018 saw a ton procedure penalties and terrible personal foul penalties that cost the Noles often.

This is an area FSU has to clean up as they were ranked No. 118 in the country.
