Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2019 season.

For the first time in several seasons, the FSU baseball team knows that they will be doing something this weekend that hasn’t been done since the 2014 ACC tournament for a team in garnet and gold from Tallahassee – watching the rest of the tournament and not playing in a title game for the first time since that event.

Why is that happening, you may ask? Well, in true fashion for the Seminoles during the 2019 season, the Noles had the ups of coming back from a big deficit in their first game of the tournament taken away by the downfall that came with giving up a big inning and now have to look in the mirror at what is next.

For now, outgoing head coach Mike Martin has the FSU baseball team focused on their final game this week in Durham – and looking forward to a few weeks on the road should the Seminoles make it into the NCAA tournament this season…which is still not a 100 percent sure deal for the Noles.

Here’s our preview of this week’s game between the Seminoles and their foes during this week of action.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

For the Seminoles, their tournament opener on Tuesday against a Wake Forest team they took two out of three games from in the regular season could be done like a stage production in three acts: Act One was a joke as the Noles gave up four runs and found themselves behind in a big way.

Act Two for the FSU baseball team was brilliant after the Seminoles got four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning – tying it up on a two run homer from Nander De Sedas to go along with a 13 strikeout performance from starting pitcher Drew Parrish to keep them in the game.

The tragedy that came with Act Three would be when the bullpen for the Seminoles came into play and gave up three runs to the Demon Deacons in the seventh inning as the Noles lost 7-4 to drop their first ACC tournament opener since the 2014 season’s concluding event.

Opponent Preview

On Friday night in the final game of pool play, the Seminoles will play a N.C. State Wolfpack team who beat the Seminoles in two of the three games the teams played this season and spent time as the top ranked team in the country for a time during the regular season.

Entering the ACC tournament with a record of 41-15 on the season, the Wolfpack won their tournament opener against that Wake Forest team who beat FSU baseball earlier in the week as N.C. State will move on to Saturday’s semifinal action in the tournament if they can beat the Seminoles.

Interesting Fact

For this season’s FSU baseball team, there has been plenty of history that has been made this year – some of it good with plenty of other moments to forget. While the Seminoles are still predicted to make it to the NCAA tournament, they risk making bad history in Durham.

If the Seminoles lose to the Wolfpack, it will mark the third time in the 28 ACC tournaments that the Noles have taken part in that they have been swept out without winning a single game – joining the 2012 (a team that was one of the last four standing in Omaha) and 2013 teams in doing the same thing.
