FSU baseball will be looking to sweep the series when they play its final home game in the Mike Martin era Sunday against Richmond.

FSU baseball (33-8, 16-11 ACC) took the second game of the series from the Richmond Spiders Saturday with a score of 11-1.

The Noles jumped out on the Spiders early in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.

In fact, they scored multiple runs in the first three innings and tacked on another one in the fourth.

FSU has responded nicely since getting shutout and no-hit against Stetson earlier in the week.

They pounded out 15 hits and were led by Mike Salvatore’s 4-6 effort and two RBI’s. Carter Smith as 3-4 with an RBI as well.

The FSU baseball pitching was near flawless with CJ Van Eyk going five innings and allowing just three hits with eight strikeouts against two walks.

Shane Drohan pitched in three innings and Gage Hutchinson finished out the final frame. The lone run scored by Richmond was unearned as the FSU defense had two errors on the day.

They’ll look to close out Mike Martin’s final home game in style by sweeping Richmond. It’s a game they have to win if they want any shot of continuing Martin’s streak of winning 40+ games.

They need seven wins with four regular season games remaining, so they’ll need help in the ACC Championship Tournament and in the Field of 64 which they are projected to make.

FSU baseball will take on ACC Atlantic leading Louisville on the road in their final three game series of the regular season next week.

The Noles defeated Louisville in the ACC Championship Tournament finals in 2018. FSU’s game against Richmond has been moved up to 11 a.m. Sunday due to impending bad weather later in the day.
