Cam Akers

It has to be tough following the footsteps of the greatest running back in FSU football history. However, Cam Akers seemed up to the challenge when he broke Dalvin Cook’s freshman rushing record.

Like most things on the offensive side of the ball in 2018, Cam Akers found it difficult to get anything going behind a putrid offensive line or getting down 14 points in the first quarter.

He played on an injured ankle quite a bit last season too. A Kendal Briles led offense could be just what the doctor ordered for the former five-star recruit.

Akers finished 2018 with 706 rushing yards on 4.39 ypc with six rushing touchdowns. He also added 23 receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Kendal Briles has prolific offenses based around the running game. If the offensive line is just serviceable, I expect Akers to put up good enough numbers to be able to declare for the draft after his junior season.
