Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2019 season.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past two weeks or so, the FSU baseball team has come together and – wait for it – actually remembered how to play this game called baseball and all of a sudden has fans in their garnet and gold wondering where in the heck this team has been all season long.

From an 18 game stretch in the middle of the season that was like a nightmare playing for weeks at a time, the Noles have put together seven wins over the last eight games that includes victories over a ranked team, the 2015 national champs and an in-state foe who was arguably the best team in the state last season.

Now, FSU baseball remains home for a three game stretch this weekend against an ACC team who the Noles don’t have to sweep – but getting the brooms out “just in case” might be the best move for all parties involved at this point.

More from FSU Baseball

Here’s our preview of this week’s games between the Seminoles and their foe during this week of action.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

After sweeping a ranked Clemson team and getting two out of three over a Virginia team on the road, the Seminoles returned inside the friendly confides of Dick Howser Stadium for a two game series against a Stetson Haters team that played in the Super Regional round last postseason.

Fortunately for the Noles, this year’s Haters team limped into the week with an 18-20 record and it showed as Mat Nelson and Nico Baldor each hit two run homers in Tuesday night – and while FSU baseball did commit four errors in the game, they did enough to hold on for a 9-8 victory in the opener.

On Wednesday, it was time to get out the brooms as the Seminoles got a two run homer from Elijah Cabill and the second homer of the game from Drew Mendoza as the Noles cruised to a 10-4 win – their seventh victory in the last eight games.

Opponent Preview

One of the more interesting stories in the ACC this weekend will be the series between FSU baseball and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons – who enter the weekend with a 25-17 record, but have won 10 of their last 13 games played.

Included in that span of wins for the black and gold is six wins in their last seven games that includes taking two out of three each from ACC weekend foes Pittsburgh and N.C. State – who beat the Seminoles earlier this season – as well as midweek wins over Liberty and Charlotte.

Interesting Fact

FSU Baseball will be looking for their second sweep this season against a quality ACC opponent – and, at the same point, looking to continue adding to a stat that they have been working on for the last decade of college baseball.

In the last 10 seasons to take place, from 2009 until 2018, the Seminoles have a total of 26 sweeps over ACC opponents during that span that includes four sweeps (Maryland, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech) in the first season alone.
