Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2019 season.

There comes a time in everyone’s life when they must admit the truth about something – whether it’s issues in their love lives, something with work or something medically important to them or their families. For the FSU baseball team and fan base, there is a growing truth that we have not been willing to admit for years.

There is a certain team that the Seminoles play multiple times each season that the men in garnet and gold are never going to beat again. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration, but recent history has showed the chances are getting similar and similar with each passing loss.

Now, head coach Mike Martin and the Seminoles know that things must turn around quickly with a stretch of games that could be the difference between making it to Omaha and not even hosting a regional in Martin’s final season.

More from FSU Baseball

Here’s our preview of this week’s games between the Seminoles and their foe during this week of action.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

Stop me if you heard this one before, but the FSU baseball team went into Jacksonville this past Tuesday desperate to try and break a losing streak to those damn Florida Gators who have had the Noles’ number for the better part of this decade.

Stop me again if you’ve heard this one before, but the Seminoles had a lead late in the game when Mike Salvatore hit a two run homer in the sixth inning that gave the Noles a 2-1 advantage with the pitching staff giving up just three hits over that same span.

Stop me for a final time if you’ve heard this before, but the Gators took advantage of mistakes by the Seminoles in the following inning – two errors in the inning and three in the game – as Florida scored three runs with two outs in the seventh. FSU baseball would have the tying or go ahead run at the plate each time but couldn’t score against and dropped a 4-2 decision.

Opponent Preview

The Seminoles return home this weekend for a three game series against ACC foe Boston College, a team that has struggled of late and might be the last chance for the Noles to get a winning conference series for a while at this rate.

The Eagles come to Tallahassee with a 12-12 record on the season, thanks to losses in six of their last eight games that include series losses to both Wake Forest and Clemson as well as losing midweek games against Northeastern and Connecticut.

Interesting Fact

If anything, FSU baseball knows they have had plenty of good times in the last few years against the Eagles – as they have won 20 of the 22 games that the teams have played in the regular season over the last eight seasons, with one loss coming in 2012 and the other in 2017 (both of the in Tallahassee).
