FSU Women’s Basketball will head to Greensboro, North Carolina for the annual postseason tournament have a decent chance of making a deep run.

Enterning the 2018-19 season, the FSU women’s basketball team was one that was not expected  to do much this season after losing every single starter from their team who went to the NCAA Tournament last season before being upset at home. For head coach Sue Semrau, it was going to be a year that was going to be the definition of rebuilding according to many.

But, a funny thing happened on the way to the funeral for the Lady Noles – they actually turned out to be a pretty decent team who finished with another 20+ win season and their fifth straight season with double digit wins in the Atlantic Coast Conference, one of the toughest leagues in the country.

So, starting Thursday, FSU women’s basketball will begin their search toward that elusive first ACC Tournament title in program history when they open play – and for the Seminoles, it’s a road that is not the worst thing as they have a  chance to play a series of teams they had a good showing against in the regular season.

ACC Tournament 2nd Round – No. 6 FSU vs. No. 11 Duke or No. 14 Pittsburgh

FSU women’s basketball gets one of the first round byes this week in Greensboro and await the winner of an opening round game between the Blue Devils and the Panthers. Either way, the Lady Noles were victorious after being Duke 66-62 at home on January 20th and Pittsburgh at home on February 17th by a score of 78 to 46.

Tournament Quarterfinals – Friday vs. No. 3 N.C. State

If the Lady Noles are victorious, they would move on to face a Wolfpack team that the eked out a victory at home against back on February 7th by a score of 75-70 when they were ranked the number nine team in the country.

If they get past that point, FSU women’s basketball would make it to the ACC Tournament semifinals where they would play one of four teams: either No. 2 Louisville, No. 7 Clemson, No. 10 Virginia Tech or No. 15 Wake Forest – with victories over the Hokies and Demon Deacons this year and losses to the Cardinals and Tigers.

The ladies in garnet and gold will be looking to at least make it back to the semis for the second straight season and hope to make it back to the finals for the first time since 2015 – both times being knocked out of the tournament by Notre Dame.
