FSU Basketball is not just having a great season for both teams, but they are right now one of the top teams in both sports in their conference.

Alright, fans of the FSU basketball teams – both men’s and women’s – it’s time for a pop quiz: after Tuesday night’s action, what school in the ACC has the most combined wins in 2018-19 when it comes to men’s and women’s basketball. Here’s a hint…it’s not Duke, it’s not North Carolina and it’s not Virginia.

The answer? Well, it is our beloved teams that have dominated the court both inside the Tucker Center and around the conference. That’s right, the Seminoles under head coaches Leonard Hamilton and Sue Semrau have combined for 42 wins and have each teams ranked both in the polls – with Louisville being the only other team in the conference to have both teams ranked.

While the men’s team gets most of the attention and the spotlight, the Lady Noles have put together a 21-5 season that includes a 9-4 record in the conference – a record that includes two losses to Notre Dame and Louisville when both teams were ranked in the top four nationally.

Semrau’s team bounced back from a two game losing streak to dominate Pittsburgh in their last game and set up an important battle with a ranked rival Miami team this Sunday – a team ahead of them in the standings, but who FSU basketball has already beaten once this season.

As for the men’s team, they took a seven game winning streak into Clemson on Tuesday night and while the Tigers stayed with it for a decent part of the first half, the Seminoles were too much down the stretch and got a 77-64 victory behind 19 points off the bench from Mfiondu Kabengele.

The Seminoles now face one of their toughest challenges left in the regular season when they travel to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels this Saturday at a place they haven’t won at since 2010.

Both FSU basketball teams are trying to make it back to the NCAA tournament in the same season for the third straight year and for just the seventh time in the history of the programs. While they have danced in the madness before, both teams have never made it to the second weekend of their tournaments in the same season before.

Barring a major letdown at the end of the season, fans of the garnet and gold will have to make sure their frequent flyer miles are updated or their remote has extra batteries – because there will be plenty of Seminoles action to focus on come the middle of March.
