FSU Football: Former Noles ready for spring league debut
By Jason Parker
Seven former FSU football stars will be taking the field starting Saturday night for at least the next two months in the new AAF.
Last weekend, the NFL season came to an end when the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams and former FSU football star Lamarcus Joyner in what was arguably the most boring Super Bowl in the last four decades – in a game that left plenty of people with a sour taste about how the season came to an end.
Well, lucky for them there is a chance for professional football to have a do over for that ending. Okay, it’s not the National Football League but eight teams and hundreds of former Noles and other college football stars will take the field in the new Alliance of American Football.
The eight team league will kick things off with games on Saturday – including one team that will feature some of the better FSU football players over the last decade on one field again.
Saturday night, the Orlando Apollos will kick things off inside Spectrum Stadium – home of the Fiesta Bowl loser and self appointed 2017 national champions UCF – against the Atlanta Legends with seven former Seminoles on their roster.

As part of the way the new league works, the Seminoles were assigned as a feeder team for the league so you know that if there is a former Nole they are going to be player here.
The seven former FSU football stars will be playing with former members of rival Florida and Miami as well as other state schools, meaning everyone knows each other and their game to make things a lot easier as Bracy-Williams told the Orlando Sentinel.
"“A lot of these guys have been on the same team before, so to get 52 new guys together, corral them, teach them a new system and then go out there and implement it, it’s inspiring. It’s a challenge and something we’ve taken a hold of and want to accomplish.”"
Now, one thing that will make these former Seminoles uncomfortable is that they will have to be rocking the God awful color combination of orange and blue while playing for the Apollos – while also being coached by former Gators quarterback and coach Steve Spurrier as well as five assistants who have ties to that program.
Nonetheless, it’s a perfect chance for these former Noles to get some more playing time and exposure that may get some of them back to the NFL someday.
