Lots of true freshmen played in 2018

FSU football closed extremely strong with the 2018 class at No. 11 in the nation. One positive about having a bum season in 2018 was the sheer number of true freshmen that played significant minutes.

Receivers Tre’Shaun Harrison and Keyshawn Helton both had double-digit receptions as receivers. Cornerbacks Asante Samuel Jr. and AJ Lytton saw significant minutes in the secondary.

Jaiden Woodbey and Robert Cooper saw significant minutes as did Anthony Grant and DeCalon Brooks.

That’s 38 percent of the 2018 class who logged minutes on more than just special teams. A couple of true freshmen played in double-digit games on that unit too.

The experience these players gained in 2018 will be invaluable going into 2019 as they can share those experiences with the incoming players for 2019.

That’s not to mention the number of players that redshirted and spent the entire year getting bigger and stronger while getting experience on scout teams.

There are a large number of these players waiting to make their presence felt just how Tamorrion Terry and Cory Durden did as redshirt freshmen in 2018.
