FSU Football: 5 reasons for excitement around ‘Noles offseason
By Kelvin Hunt
Despite going 5-7 in 2018, FSU football has some positives in 2019. Here are five reasons for excitement surrounding the ‘Noles offseason.
It has been a tough couple of years since FSU football defeated Michigan in the Orange Bowl. The Noles entered the 2017 season ranked preseason top five with aspirations to compete for a national championship.
However, a loss against Alabama in the opener and losing starting quarterback Deondre Francois to injury saw those dreams go up in smoke.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and rumors began to swirl about Jimbo Fisher’s future with the program. After all, he had flirted with LSU before signing extensions with the Noles.
Those rumors came to fruition with him leaving for Texas A&M and 75 million dollars guaranteed. FSU’s administration wasted no time in identifying his replacement in Willie Taggart and man did he create a buzz around Tallahassee.
He won the offseason and made the right move every single time. Expectations were through the roof and I thought nine regular season wins were doable despite a lot of fans talking College Football Playoff.
The season started and FSU football looked absolutely lost as soon as the ball was kicked off against Virginia Tech.
A second half collapse against Syracuse was writing on the wall as most fans came to realize this program had a ways to go before they would compete for ACC titles again.
However, as bad as the 2018 season was there’s hope for 2019. Here’s my five reasons to be excited about the 2019 FSU football season.
