Conclusion

Both teams were great but the clear edge goes to FSU in every aspect. They were the more experienced team overall with every starter playing the NFL at some point.

The 2018 Clemson team had some close calls against the likes of Texas A&M and Syracuse. The 2013 FSU football team blew every team out except Auburn who were stealing signals in the first half.

I still blame Jimbo Fisher for not being smart enough to change those things up. Otherwise, they would have blown Auburn out as well and the second half is proof of that.

Defensively, the Noles were better against the pass with the ability to defend the run being a wash compared to Clemson.

If you were going to have a shootout, I’d like my chances with the 2013 FSU offense compared to the 2018 Clemson team.

If a defense needed a stop, I’d take FSU’s defense over Clemson’s overall and they were better at creating opportunities for takeaways.

The special teams are not close as that’s a clear edge to the 2013 FSU football team.

That FSU football team beat three teams in the top 10 that season by an average of 22.3 points. Clemson only beat two teams ranked in the top 10 in 2018.

So yes, Clemson’s 2018 season was great. However, they are still not better than the 2013 FSU football team and would take an L just like every other team that lined up against them.
