FSU Defense Was Better Than Clemson’s

Everyone talks about the 2018 Clemson defense but have forgotten how great that 2013 defense was.

The FSU defense gave up less points (12.1 ppg) compared to Clemson (13.1) and gave up less yards per play (4.07) compared to (4.19).

The ‘Noles defense only allowed passes to be completed just 51 percent of the time compared to Clemson’s 53 percent.

Yes, turnovers have a luck factor depending on how the ball bounces on fumbles or how tipped passes go.

However, FSU had 26 interceptions compared to 12 for Clemson. Overall the ‘Noles defense had a +17 turnover margin compared to just +7 for Clemson.

Clemson’s defense was better at generating tackles for loss and sacks compared the 2013 FSU team. However, as we’ll learn in the next slide the FSU offense was unstoppable.
