FSU Football: 5 reasons 2013 FSU team smokes 2018 Clemson

Special Teams

I know current FSU fans are like say what bro? Yep, FSU football used to be great a special teams. Heck, they even had a 100 yard kickoff return in the national title game against Auburn in case you forgot.

FSU had the better kicking game with Roberto Aguayo who made 21 of 22 field goal attempts compared to just 12 of 18 for Clemson.

The Noles averaged 10 yards per punt return compared to Clemson who averaged just seven yards per return.

FSU averaged 28 yards per kickoff return compared to Clemson’s 22.70 per return. FSU only allowed 18 yards per kickoff return compared to Clemson who allowed 20.53 yards per return.

The Tigers allowed a kickoff to be returned for a touchdown this season whereas FSU didn’t in 2013.

The Noles allowed 16.93 yards per punt return but only allowed 14 returns all season and these came largely win the games were over. They didn’t allow a team to return a punt for a touchdown.

Clemson allowed just 7 yards per return but did allow a touchdown return on the year. They faced 17 punt returns this season.
