Likely Limited Time Frame

One of the biggest things to consider is how long Kendal Briles will be at FSU. He’s one of the brightest offensive minds in college football and is only 36 years old.

He’ll likely be signed to a three year contract. However, if he comes in and turns the FSU offense around other Power 5 program will come calling now that he’s returned to that level of coaching at FSU.

Basically, FSU and Willie Taggart are willing to gamble that things will be relatively quiet off the field regarding Briles and any type of situations that would draw negative press.

Briles will be charged with running the offense and coaching quarterbacks and handling the regular recruiting duties as assigned.

He will not be in charge of coordinating recruiting as that will likely fall under David Kelly assuming he transitions back to the off the field role he had under Willie Taggart while at Oregon.

Kelly is arguably the best recruiter on staff, so it would make sense for him to assume that position since FSU needs to reel in an elite class in 2020.

If Briles comes in, gets the offense back to top 10 status like he’s done everywhere he’s been and leaves in three years? That’s a win-win for both Briles and the Noles.
