Conclusion

I think Willie Taggart will make the right hire with this offensive coordinator move. For one, he’s got everything riding on it.

Secondly, he has had more time to do due diligence on potential candidates compared to last year.

Taggart was hired in early December and had to put together an entire coaching staff AND save the FSU recruiting class almost single-handedly in about two months time.

I’m almost positive Taggart has had his hand on the pulse of Walt Bell potentially leaving and potential candidates to replace him for some time now.

No coach can make the calculated off-season moves he made last year where he could do no wrong and be caught off guard with Bell leaving.

Will it be Kendal Briles? There’s a lot that comes with that hire. There’s a lot that comes with any of the names mentioned who could potentially be candidates.

There’s potential instability with Fedora bolting after a year or two. Jeff Scott has been a co-offensive coordinator and Mike Sanford was fired from his last gig at Western Kentucky.

There could be another name that emerges too as these coaching searches can change like the wind. Whoever it is, I’d expect them to have these three qualities and more if Willie Taggart hires them.
