FSU Football Alums: Fans react to Jameis Winston yelling at teammate
By Jason Parker
Former FSU football star Jameis Winston was back in the news Sunday with mixed reaction toward his interaction with his center after a penalty.
From his time leading FSU football to a national title and consecutive ACC crowns, Jameis Winston has been a polarizing figure both on and off the field – from those who don’t like his play at quarterback to those he got a free pass for several off-field incidents, including being investigated for alleged sexual assault to a fellow student.
Because of that, everything that the man who now is leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers does its going to be scrutinized by those across the country – and those people got another reason to bring Winston back into question on Sunday.
After a penalty was called on Tampa Bay Buccaneers center Ryan Jensen during Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, the former FSU football star wasn’t afraid to let his teammate and the man snapping him the ball know he wasn’t happy with what took place – and the two men got face to face with each other
After Winston’s anger went viral, people took to social media to either support what he did or condemn him yet again.
Winston, after the game, brushed off the incident as brothers having an argument during the game – a game the Bucs would blow a double digit lead in and watch the Saints roll to a convincing victory in the end.
Personally, and I am not just saying this because Winston is a former FSU football star and I tend to be biased toward the Seminoles, I have no problem with Jameis getting in the teammate’s face when he did something wrong – in this case, a personal foul penalty. That to me is the sign of being a leader: not being afraid to speak the truth when needed.
I find it hilarious that Jameis continues to get attacked when he does something like that (even be called immature) but players like Tom Brady are praised for doing the same thing. No, I’m not comparing what the two players have done championship wise and I understand Jameis will be held to a different standard for what may or may not have taken place while he was with FSU football.
But, with that being said, give me a quarterback who has the fire as opposed to someone who is just going to go through the motions.
