FSU football special teams have been abysmal all season and kickoff return being among the worst in the nation.

There’s no question FSU football has had sub-par special teams for years. It’s not they haven’t had the same caliber of athletes returning kickoffs as they have better players than most of the teams in the country.

However, for some odd reason the last few years have been nothing short of a disappointment when it comes to changing games via special team areas like punt return and kickoff return.

The Noles finally a lethal punt return game with sophomore D.J. Matthews being inserted into the fold about 10 games too late for Tarvarus McFadden.

I want to speak about kick off returns though since FSU head coach Willie Taggart spoke on that facet of the game in Monday’s Talk Show.

I couldn’t disagree more as returning kickoffs has been on of the sole reasons the ‘Noles offense has one of the worst starting field position averages in the country.

FSU football ranks No. 87 in kickoff return average. Here are three reasons why they should fair catch every kickoff.
