FSU baseball now knows who and when they will be playing their foes during the upcoming season – and here is what we learned from the release of it.

In just a matter of months, the FSU baseball team will head back onto the field of Dick Hoswer Stadium for the 40th and final season under the man who the field is named after – the long time head coach of the Seminoles and the man known as No. 11 himself, Mike Martin.

When Martin announced this summer that this upcoming season would be the last one where he leads his alma mater onto the field of play, there were plenty of people wondering if the Noles were going to send him out in style with the first College World Series title in the history of the program – that elusive line that has been left off of Martin’s elaborate resume.

But, before FSU baseball can even think about going back to Omaha and getting that job done, they are going to face a 2019 regular season schedule that is once again among the toughest in the country that comes with playing an ACC slate that is second to none and non-conference games against teams that have been to the CWS before.

So, what are the biggest takeaways from the 2019 schedule for the Seminoles? Here are the top three.

No. 1 – FSU baseball fans will likely get to see Martin get his 2,000th win at home

Last season, Martin became the all-time wins leader in college baseball when the Seminoles defeated Clemson on the road after some midseason struggles kept him from breaking the record at home. At 13 wins away from the big milestone, the Seminoles play 14 of their first 16 games at home and would get the record setting win March 6th against North Florida if they start unbeaten.

No. 2 – FSU baseball faces a stacked schedule in the month of April

If the Seminoles are going to get back to Omaha, it’s going to have to be because they made it through the regular season and a stretch of games that are insane by any standards. It starts with three games at home against the rival Miami Hurricanes followed by the third game against Florida, a three game set at home against Clemson followed by three on the road at Virginia and two games vs. Stetson.

No. 3 – FSU baseball will play some unfamiliar foes during the final season under Mike Martin

While the Seminoles will face all the classic names like Miami, Florida, Jacksonville and even Stetson, USF and UCF from recent seasons, the Noles will also welcome some teams they haven’t faced in a while to the schedule.

Among those include Maine and FIU, who the Noles haven’t played since 2012, along with a Mercer team they have played just one series against since the 2006 season. In addition, the Seminoles will play UNF for the first time since 2010, Richmond for the first time since 1992 (in the final home regular season series) and Youngstown State for the first time ever.
