FSU football has one of the worst offenses in all of college football, but it’s not the offensive system that’s the problem.

FSU football fans are fed up with how the offense has fared the first three games of the season. I’ve read it all on social media as fans have taken shots at Willie Taggart’s offense.

The thing is, nothing is wrong with Willie Taggart’s offensive system. The system works when executed folks. Have there been a few times where I’ve scratched my head on some playcalls?

Absolutely.

However, all you have to do is look at his track record the past few years as his offenses have been as good or better than Jimbo Fisher.

All offenses have certain things they need to be successful. Most think Jimbo Fisher needs an elite quarterback or Dabo Swinney needs a dual threat QB and so on.

Well, Willie Taggart needs an offensive line that can block(all teams do) and that’s not a luxury he has at his disposal nor will he have it the rest of the year.

Remember how inefficient the FSU offense was last year with an inexperienced quarterback and terrible offensive line under Jimbo Fisher?

FSU football fans whined and complained all season about how poor the offense performed. Guess what? I told you the problem wasn’t Jimbo Fisher’s offensive system, it was the execution of it.

The same is happening with Willie Taggart in 2018. In fact, Jimbo Fisher’s offense put up huge numbers against a vaunted Clemson defense last week.

They averaged 6.95 yards per play against the Tigers in a losing effort. Guess what? Jimbo Fisher has an experienced QB and an offensive line to work with this year.

The plays are there in Willie Taggart’s offense, it’s just getting the players to maximize effort and make their blocks. That goes for the offensive line, wide receivers, tight ends and running backs.

The other part is getting Deondre Francois to make the correct reads in the system. So, calling Taggart’s offense pee-wee league or any other outlandish adjective should be abstained from.

The fact of the matter is his offenses have averaged 37.8 ppg and 6.56 ypp over the last three season and that’s plenty enough to win with FSU football.
