Stanford Samuels is making the move from cornerback to safety in the new FSU defense. It’s arguably one of the smartest moves Harlon Barnett could have made since it’ll be a safety with cornerback skills in this position.

Samuels will be the safety that’s responsible for a ton of coverage responsibilities which has been a weakness on the defense the past few years.

Samuels had 27 tackles as a true freshman in 2017 and should see an uptick in production there as he’ll also have run responsibilities from the safety position.

The good thing about Samuels is he’s not on overly huge player, but he’s not afraid to be physical coming downhill.

He had two interceptions last season and could have the opportunity to increase that total while patrolling a larger area of the secondary as a safety.
