The college football season is now in full swing, so let’s take a stab at trying to make some money starting with week 1.

Our college football betting didn’t go exactly how we planned for the 2017 season. There were some terrible bets, terrible luck and a lot of learning experiences.

I finished 27-32-6 overall which is 45.7 percent and of course bettors need to hit around 52 percent to be profitable unless betting nothing but underdogs. It’s funny because I finished a 45.8 percent winning percentage in 2016.

At least I’m consistent right?

So let’s not waste any more time and get right into our top 5 bets of week one. All lines are from our partners at OddsShark.com.

  • Michigan/Notre Dame-UNDER 47
  • Wake Forest -7 vs. Tulane
  • WVU -9.5(bought half point) vs. Tennessee
  • Miami vs. LSU-UNDER 47
  • FSU vs. Va Tech-UNDER 57

Quick Write Ups

  • Michigan/Notre Dame will feature to offenses that like to run the ball not to mention both teams return a lot of experience on defense. Good defense and a running clock are a betting under’s best friend.
  • Wake Forest vs. Tulane will feature a well coached Wake Forest team that will start a true freshman QB because the starter is suspended. That’s why the line is only 7 and not 10 on the road. Dave Clawson will play to his strengths and the defense should be able to limit Tulane offensively.
  • WVU because Tennessee is a long way away from being competitive and WVU has the much better QB.
  • Miami and LSU both are plodding offenses with solid defenses. A special teams or defensive touchdown scares me a little. A 24-21 score would win here.
  • FSU vs. Va Tech is a game that will feature two uptempo offenses. FSU has more talent overall and is projected to be much better in the red zone than Va Tech. Willie Taggart offenses have scored touchdowns 72 percent of the time the last three years. Virginia Tech chimes in at just 58 percent. FSU scores touchdowns and holds Va Tech to field goals in this one. A 34-20 score wins here.
