FSU football will kickoff the Willie Taggart era in a week as they host Virginia Tech in primetime. Someone else would rather not play that game.

FSU football will play anyone at anytime at any location. It’s been that way for decades and it’s how FSU became FSU really.

The Noles going on the road to hostile environments and winning is what made folk take note of what was happening in Tallahassee under Coach Bobby Bowden in the early years.

FSU has always seemingly been in big time games and has been the most popular ACC team for TV networks to broadcast since joining the conference in the early 90’s.

They won’t be on the road in the first game of the 2018 season, but they will be hosting a Virginia Tech team that won nine games in 2017.

The No. 20 ranked Hokies lost a lot from their usually formidable defense and had a below average offense last season.

It’ll be a tough game for the Hokies as they are now 7.5 point betting underdogs at most sites. It looks like VT coach Justin Fuente knows they could be going into a buzz saw too:

Thoughts

I appreciate Coach Fuente’s honesty, but that doesn’t scream he thinks his team is ready to play and capable of getting a win in Tallahassee.

A lot of people are looking at last year and counting the Noles out, but I guarantee you VT coaches turned on the tape and realized there’s still a ton of talent on this FSU football roster.

Most importantly, the Noles will have experienced QB play and an abundance of blue chip running backs to go uptempo against that young Virginia Tech defense.

The betting line opened at 5.5 points but has gradually moved over a touchdown despite more money being bet on Virginia Tech at this point.

It should be a great game to finish off the first week of the college football season.
