FSU football has named its leader on offense as former starting QB Deondre Francois won his job back(that he really never lost).

Deondre Francois overcame a lot of odds to be named FSU football starting QB for 2018.

He was injured in the first game of the season in 2017 and missed the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Almost a year to the day, Francois has been named the starter for the 2018 opener against Virginia Tech.

Coach Willie Taggart made the announcement Monday morning during a scheduled media scrum before practice.

Thoughts

As you can see the FSU football fan base seemed to be torn about who they wanted as the starter.

If you had asked me in January or February I would have said it’s a long shot for Francois start against Virginia Tech.

I liked him as a redshirt freshman and he did a lot of good things, but his actions last season after getting hurt put him in a bad light. He was not doing the things you’d expect the starting QB to do coupled with bad decisions off the field or more so the crowd he associated with.

All that combined with questions regarding if he would be healthy enough to participate in fall camp to win the job back had me doubtful at best.

However, here we are. Francois moved back onto campus and took the words of Coach Taggart and staff to heart about being a leader.

Coach Taggart has said repeatedly that Francois had done all the things they asked of him this summer.

I think the turning point for Francois was moving back on campus and being around his teammates. He reportedly was the most consistent in fall camp and even though he doesn’t know the offense as well, the coaches must feel he gives them the best chance to win in 2018.

Whether you’re team Frenchy or someone else, the decision has been made by the coaches and now it’s time to support him. Go Noles!
