FSU Football is going old school again with one of the best names in hip hop history headlining the latest concert after one of this season’s games.

In recent years, more and more music concerts have made their way into the home of FSU football as names like Blake Shelton, Jake Owen and Cole Swindell have made country music fans and those who love the Seminoles get to their feet inside Doak Campbell Stadium – including Swindell’s show after last year’s game against Delaware State.

The ‘Doak Aftr Dark’ series has been a success and even spurned a spring game edition this past April when 90s music stars like Salt-N-Pepa, Vanilla Ice and Rob Base performed for fans who showed up for the Garnet and Gold game.

This week, FSU football announced that the concert series would continue this season during homecoming weekend – and if you are like me and grew up on real hip hop in the mid to late 90s and early 2000s, you need to make sure you are inside Doak Campbell Stadium on October 20th.

Now, even those people who might not be a fan of hip hop or rap music have to admit this is a HUGE get for FSU football. While names like Shelton and Owen and big in the music world, the story of music in the last two decades includes OutKast being arguably the biggest name in southern hip hop over that span and the ones who put it on the map.

Add into that T-Pain, who grew up in Tallahassee and attended high school there before moving to Atlanta for his music career, and the Seminoles have hit another one out of the park with the annual Doak After Dark event.

Fans who attend the game between FSU football and Wake Forest will get to stay for the concert for free, but you can also purchase field passes for the concert for $20.

It may seem gimmicky to some for the Seminoles to have to schedule a musical act in order to get some people out to a football game, but that is the current state of college football across the country so kudos to FSU football for at least getting people that fans want to see.

On a personal sidenote, I know that Big Boi is the only one signed up at this point – but I would pay double the ticket price of Andre 3000 comes out and there be a full OutKast concert after a FSU football victory.
