FSU football had an elite list of recruits attend it’s inaugural Saturday Night Live event.

FSU football did something Saturday that no other football program in the country could and that’s have Florida native platinum selling artist Plies in the building.

The news first broke on Twitter Saturday morning when Plies tweeted to “stay tuned” implying he’d be coming to Tallahassee.

Willie Taggart had mentioned Plies as an artist he was a fan of near the time he was hired as FSU Football head coach.

It’s not clear if Coach Taggart called him up or he just wanted to come through and chop it up with the Noles.

The response was ridiculous online as Plies is known for extremely popular singles like “Shawty”, “Bust It Baby pt. 2 and “Hypnotized”.

Thoughts

FSU football has always recruited at extremely high levels no matter who the coach is. However, among the universities that recruit at an elite level it’s one that doesn’t have the same level of deep pockets as those programs that have been around much longer.

That means sometimes you have to offer something different. Players can come to FSU football and get a great education with opportunities to play in the NFL.

Programs take the business approach, some take the family approach or a mixture of both which is what FSU has always seemed to do.

Plies, a former college athlete, often posts on social media offering advice to young athletes to regarding pitfalls to avoid on their path. So it’s not just about a show for him as he does have a message for the players.

The great thing is having him adds to the overall experience the recruits had while at FSU. Those recruits will go tell others about the great time they had which influences others to want to visit Tallahassee.
