Why 2013 FSU Football would beat every BCS, Playoff champion
By Jason Parker
The argument from ESPN about why this Florida team was one of the best stems from the number of points they scored (611) against eight teams who finished in the top 30 defensively while having 19 players drafted into the NFL – still two less than what FSU football and from their 2013 national title team.
Yes, the Gators did average a 30 point win against their two top eight ranked teams in the regular season – but this was also a Florida team who finished ninth nationally in offense despite all those big scores and finished with the 20th ranked defense in the FBS, which was below the 10th ranked Seminoles defense from that year.
More importantly, how can you put a team ahead of both the Noles from 2013 (and even the 2001 Miami team) that lost a game? Don’t forget that the Gators lost at home to an Ole Miss team who had losses that season to Wake Forest and Vanderbilt. Yes, things can change over a course of the season, but a team with a bad loss has to take a step back.
As much as we don’t want to give credit to our rivals, this was a good team that the Gators produced that season – but there is no way that defense would have stopped what the Seminoles put on the field during the 2013 season.
