FSU Alums: Kenny Shaw talks mindset after knee injury in 2017
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU alum Kenny Shaw is a player most FSU fans have major love for even though he didn’t pan out in the NFL.
When FSU football fans talk about their favorite players of the past decade a name that some may not think of right off-hand comes up often.
“Kenny Shaw is Raw” is a phrase often heard when referencing the former FSU wide receiver who went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Shaw signed as an undrafted free agent but never made a NFL roster after spending time with the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders.
However, he caught a break in 2015 after signing with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
However, it was in 2016 where he left his mark after hauling in 77 receptions for 1,004 yards and five touchdowns.
Shaw used that season to sign a free agent deal with the Ottawa Redblacks, but injuries derailed his 2017 season where he only appeared in three games with six receptions for 66 yards.
Yea, I didn’t like the way those numbers looked either. Apparently Shaw injured his knee last year, ironically finding out he tore ligaments in it one day before FSU football would lose quarterback Deondre Francois for the season with a knee injury of his own.
Kenny Shaw Works Out And Gives His Thoughts On Recovery
Thoughts
It’s never been a question of it Kenny Shaw has the ability to play professional football. He either couldn’t avoid injuries with his slender build or opportunities never presented themselves at the right time.
It looks like he’s trying to get back into in the video. He’s only 26 years old so he has time to make a come back if that’s what he desires.
Hopefully another CFL team will give him an opportunity although it might have to wait until next year since the CFL season has already started.
