Jameis Winston is going to be sitting out the first three games, but he’s spending time getting football and life lessons from former NFL star Randy Moss.

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers open their 2018 regular season schedule on September 9th against the New Orleans Saints, starting quarterback Jameis Winston will not be leading the team on the field of battle for his fourth season as a signal caller in the National Football League.

In fact, fans of the Bucs won’t get to see the former FSU football championship quarterback until Week Four of the season – when Tampa Bay takes on the Chicago Bears – after Winston was suspended for an alleged incident from 2016 with a female Uber driver while he was in Arizona with friends.

Since then, the issue has brought back all the past moments in the life and career of Jameis Winston that include his time with the Seminoles – everything from the infamous crab legs incident to an alleged sexual assault in December 2012 in which Winston never was charged for by the state attorney of Leon County.

Now, while Winston will get a chance to practice and play in the preseason before serving his suspension, the Bucs quarterback is getting both football and life lessons from someone who has been in the spotlight before – and not always for good reasons – in Hall of Fame wide receiver, and one time former Florida State Seminole – Randy Moss.

Moss is in Tampa working with Winston and others players getting ready for the season – and spoke with one local sports reporter, saying in essence that Winston needs to grow up.

Jameis Winston is a FSU football legend for all that he has done on the field, but the things that have taken place off the field – both the actual and the alleged – have put Seminole fans in the difficult position of having to continue to defend Winston and face the criticism toward the program that has come from those who believe he is guilty of everything.

Moss is someone who has grown up in his time – including being kicked off the FSU team and out of school after a marijuana charge while on probation – and has become someone who can educate others, so it’s good to see he is giving back and paying it forward.

Now, the million dollar question is whether that means Jameis Winston – who recently celebrated the birth of his son with his fiancé – can truly following in his footsteps and turn that corner.
