FSU Recruiting: Noles react to making Kayvon Thibodeaux’s top five
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU recruiting has placed itself firmly in the mix for the nation’s No. 1 player in Kayvon Thibodeaux.
FSU recruiting has been on fire on the defensive side of the ball lately with three commitments from three players in the composite 375 in the last week.
Derick Hunter (No. 205), Curtis Fann (No. 241) and Derrick McLendon (No. 371) which consists of two defensive ends and a defensive tackle.
Now, the Noles have found themselves firmly in the mix for the No. 1 defensive end and No. 1 player in the country in Kayvon Thibodeaux.
He released his final list of top five schools that he’ll be choosing from this weekend and the Noles made the cut. Check out the video below:

Thoughts
Thibodeaux has already visited FSU this spring and has tentative plans to officially visit again for the season opener against Virginia Tech in September.
If he does make that trip for his official visit, I’d like to think the Noles have an incredible shot to land him. He’s 6’4.5″ 235 pounds and hails from Westlake Village, California.
The fact FSU recruiting landed three players from the west coast in the 2018 class should help their case.
Also, having three of the five schools east of the Mississippi River should bode well in believing distance isn’t too much of a concern. Florida’s recruiting is in shambles and I can’t see him wanting to join a class like that.
That leaves FSU, Alabama, USC and Oregon and one of those schools doesn’t belong and why FSU’s current coach isn’t there anymore.
Thibodeaux wants to go to law school and USC has the best law school according to US News at No. 19 followed by Alabama at No. 27 and FSU at No. 47. However, he can complete his undergraduate degree wherever and then apply to law school wherever he wants.
He rated FSU as the best visit he took this spring, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out when he makes his decision.

The Noles already have a great class, but adding Thibodeaux would send a message that Willie Taggart and company are like those boyz on the sidelines….they ain’t playing.
