FSU Basketball: Top power conference foes Noles should schedule
By Jason Parker
FSU basketball will play several tournament teams from outside the ACC this coming season – here are some power teams they should play in the near future.
While the FSU football team sometimes has to face criticism from those across the country who falsely belief that the ACC is not all that tough when it comes to the sport, the FSU basketball team has never had to worry about that as the league will also be near or at the top of that conversation when it comes to the hardwood.
It’s a yearly schedule that is full of road bumps ranging from teams that played in the NCAA tournament to those teams that didn’t have a winning record, but somehow thumped you along the way. In 2018-19, the Seminoles will add non-conference games that include tournament teams like Florida and Purdue – as well as a possible game with defending champ Villanova in a holiday tournament this November.
While some would argue that you shouldn’t make things insanely difficult, the selection committee has made it clear to FSU basketball and others that a tougher schedule could mean the difference between getting into March Madness and heading to the NIT.
With that, let us take a look at the teams in the four major power conferences – Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12 and SEC – as well as teams in three of the other successful conferences in college basketball that the Noles should schedule one game or a home-and-home series with.
