FSU recruiting received some much-needed momentum with the commitment of a four-star defensive tackle for 2019.

FSU recruiting had been relatively quite on the commitment front since the weekend of the spring game.

However, that didn’t mean the coaching staff wasn’t putting in that work behind the scenes. They consistently gotten blue chip players to visit Tallahassee since January, laying solid foundations for relationships to be built.

One of those relationships turned into a 2019 commitment in the form of four-star defensive tackle Derick “Rambo” Hunter Jr. Wednesday afternoon.

Check out Hunter’s announcement via his Twitter account:

Hunter is the No. 205 player nationally and the No. 15 ranked defensive tackle in the nation. He’s the 11th commitment for the 2019 recruiting class which consists of one 5-star, eight 4-stars and two 3-stars.

The Noles beat out the likes of Florida, Miami, Georgia and tons of other Power 5 schools for the commitment.

Thoughts

The FSU fan base did seem to be hitting the restless stage when it came to FSU recruiting. I’m not sure why as Taggart has already proven recruiting will be one of his strong suites.

However, it had been two months since the Noles landed a 2019 commitment and had the No. 1 ranked class (at the time). The Noles currently sit at No. 12 nationally and No. 3 in the ACC behind Clemson and Miami.

However, they are only ahead of FSU recruiting due to class size (15 and 16 respectively), but have much lower rated players.

FSU’s average per player average is 92.27(blue chip) and Clemson checks in at 89.33(three-star) with Miami checking in at 88.91(three-star).

That’s a large gap.

I expect FSU to take about 12-13 more commitments which includes potentially losing maybe two current commits. The Noles are in the mix for other blue chip recruits who could be announcing soon which would be perfect going into the July 28th recruiting event that’s by invite only.
