FSU Basketball: Noles get No. 4 seed in early 2019 tournament prediction
By Jason Parker
FSU basketball is starting to get more love after last season’s Elite Eight finish – and now, one bracket expert thinks they will have a high seed in 2019.
Even the biggest FSU basketball fan like you and me and the rest of the Chop Chat nation has to admit that the Seminoles overachieved on the court during the NCAA tournament this past season. While our hearts are with the Noles, not many people had them being one of the last eight teams standing.
Alas, that is what Florida State did as they reached the Elite Eight for just the third time in the history of the program – 1972 and 1993 being the other years, for those of you scoring at home – and made believers out of plenty of people with a convincing win over the top seed in the West Region, Xavier, along with a blowout victory over Gonzaga in the Sweet 16.
Entering the 2018-19 season, FSU basketball will be looking to make a third straight appearance in the madness of March for just the third time in program history – and one bracketology expert seems to think that won’t just happen, but that the Noles are going to be one of the top seeds in the field this coming season.
CBSSports.com’s Jerry Palm released his latest predictions for who will make the 68 team field this season, having the Seminoles as a No. 4 seed when the field is put together next March.
"West Region (in Hartford, CT)No. 4 FLORIDA STATE vs. No. 13 Murray StateNo. 5 LSU vs. No. 12 Northeastern"
We’ll get to the fact of playing the West Regional opening round in the state of Connecticut at a later time, but the Seminoles have only been a four seed or better a total of five times in the 13 appearances they have made since seeding began in the 1979 tournament – so being this high would be a big deal.
Also interesting is that FSU basketball, if this field was to take place and everything played out, would either play the Zags again, the rival Florida Gators or the USC Trojans that are coached by former Seminoles assistant Andy Enfield.

With Phil Cofer returning for another year along with Terance Mann and the rest of the returning cast, the Noles are in good shape to make another deep run if they can play up to expectations after going so far last tournament.
