FSU baseball continues its ridiculous winning streak with ACC Championship game win over Virginia.

It was another close one but the No. 6 seed FSU baseball (40-17) found that late game magic once again in another walk-off extra inning performance win.

It’s the third one in the last week with the first two coming against NC State in FSU’s regular season finale.

This time it was against No. 10 seed Virginia in the first game of the ACC Baseball Championships being played in Durham, North Carolina.

FSU used an 11th inning double from Reese Albert to score Drew Mendoza with two outs to take a 3-2 win over the Wahoos.

The win will allow the Noles to face No. 3 seed NC State Friday at 7p.m. A win against the Wolfpack will send FSU baseball to the semifinals on Saturday.

Thoughts

FSU being able to extend its streak of 41 straight seasons with 40 or wins is an incredible example of greatness and consistency.

The Noles won two of three games against NC State but all three games were razor close. As we mentioned, FSU took the first two games with walk-off homeruns in extra innings.

However, the Wolfpack were able to avoid the sweep with a win in the series finale. FSU seems to be catching fire similar to how they did in last years ACC Baseball Championships.

The Noles were not favored to win the tournament but did so, and used that momentum to punch their ticket to their first College World Series since 2012.

If FSU can get steady pitching and play solid defense they’ll have a solid shot of getting past NC State for the third time in four games.
