FSU recruiting has been like a duck on a smooth lake, calm on the surface and paddling like hell underwater.

FSU recruiting is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation with 10 commitments for the 2019 recruiting class.

The staff is currently spending a lot of time evaluating prospective student athletes to establish who their top targets are moving forward into the summer.

One player from the 2019 recruiting class committed to the Noles while the old regime was still in Tallahassee. Four-star defensive end Quashon Fuller committed to the Noles on February 27, 2017.

However, recent developments have Fuller releasing the following statement via his Twitter account Sunday:

Fuller is one of two defensive end recruits committed to the 2019 class with the other being legacy recruit four-star Mike Morris.Defensive end is an area of need as the Noles lost both Josh Sweat and Jalen Wilkerson from last year’s squad.

Thoughts

I understand it’s a different situation to commit so early to one staff and then experience a staff change. However, it’s also weird to be ‘committed’ but announcing a top 10 list at the same time.

I’m not sure that’s possible, but at the end of the day the most important thing is for the young man to find the spot that’s best for him.

Also, it’s important for FSU to recruit quality players that want to be at FSU too. I’m not saying Fuller doesn’t, obviously he committed to the Noles over a year ago.

However, things change obviously and hopefully younger recruits and coaches can look at this situation and learn from it. As as former college athlete, I understand the game and players should take advantage of these opportunities.

So, if it’s meant for Fuller to wind up in Tallahassee that great. If he chooses to go elsewhere it’s not the end of the world either. Welcome to the crazy world of college football recruiting.
