FSU baseball will face to familiar foes in their pool of the ACC Baseball Championship.

FSU baseball (39-17, 16-13 ACC) lost the final game of its three game series against NC State (40-14, 19-11 ACC) Saturday after winning the first two games in walk-off HR fashion in extra innings.

The loss means Mike Martin will have to wait a bit longer to get his record extending 40th win for the 41st consecutive year.

It looks like he’ll have to do it against familiar foe as the Noles were placed in Pool C of the upcoming ACC Baseball Championship as the No. 6 seed.

They are in the same bracket as No. 3 NC State and No. 10 seed Virginia.

Each team in each pool with play against the other two teams in the pool with the winner of four pools playing one another in the semi-finals Saturday.

The finals will take place Sunday with all the games taking place in Durham, North Carolina, at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Thoughts

The Noles have been playing solid baseball of late and it was huge to take two games from NC State, albeit both wins were nail biters that NC State had chances to win as well.

Virginia was one of the few teams from the ACC Coastal the Noles didn’t face this season. They finished fifth in the division with a record of (28-23, 12-17 ACC).

However, Virginia did beat North Carolina once this year and lost all three games to No.2  seed Clemson by one run.

Hopefully the two big wins over NC State can give the Noles momentum like last season when FSU came from nowhere to win the ACC Baseball Championship and eventually make the College World Series for the first time since 2012.

If FSU baseball can get solid pitching and not look like the bad news bears on defense, they definitely have a shot to make some noise.
