FSU Football alums talk smack about practices between NFL teams

FSU football alums will be all over the place when the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars get together for some practices during the preseason.
In the recent era of FSU football, there have been plenty of big name players who are now doing their thing on Sundays as well as the occasional Monday and Thursday in the NFL – two of those being Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes and Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith.
The two former Seminoles dominated the defense in Tallahassee for the three seasons they played together from 2010 to 2012 before Rhodes went on to the league. Smith stayed another season and got a nice piece of jewelry out of it as a member of the national championship team.
Now, both players are going to get a chance to see each other a lot more than planned during the NFL preseason – as the Vikings announced that Rhodes and fellow FSU football legend Dalvin Cook will practice two days with Smith, cornerback Jalen Ramsey and the rest of the Jags on August 15th and 16th – two days before their scheduled preseason game in Minneapolis.
Needless to say, the friends and former teammates had fun with the news and took to social media on the Vikings account to jaw back and forth about practice.
Okay, personally I am still going to put my money on Rhodes if we are talking about a head to head 50 yard race. No respect to a recent FSU football star like Smith – who has mad skills and is becoming one of the NFL’s young stars – but my money will always go to the secondary over a front seven player.
NFL teams traditionally practice with each other ahead of a preseason game – the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts have announced one this year and former FSU football star Kelvin Benjamin tore his ACL in 2015 during a practice with the Miami Dolphins.

The teams met during the 2016 season in Jacksonville, where Rhodes and the Vikings came out on top 25-16.
